NNPP Slams Ganduje Over Comments On Kwankwaso

Published

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and its presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso yesterday fired back at the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, describing him as a liability who lacks the political clout to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his party in the 2027 polls.

A morally bankrupt and corrupt individual like Ganduje, according to the NNPP, can only be granted relevance in Nigeria.

This information can be found in a statement made by the NNPP’s national press secretary, Hon. Yakubu Shendam, in response to comments made by the APC national chairman that were attributed to him in one of the national newspapers and in which he referred to Kwakwanso as a “serial loser.”

Retaliating against Ganduje, the NNPP said that the APC chairman has amnesia and is unaware that he has lost elections repeatedly while Kwankwaso has won them. Any rational Nigerian should not take him seriously given the scandals that surround him.

Shendam claimed that Ganduje has suffered irreversible damage as a result of the controversies that surround him, preventing him from delivering Tinubu and the APC in 2027.

The national publicity scribe stated, “Take it or leave it, Ganduje is a liability to Tinubu, a liability to his party, the APC, and a liability to the country.

I can bet with my life that with Ganduje as the National Chairman, Pres. Bola Tinubu is going to lose the 2027 Presidential election because Nigerians will not vote for him.” The scribe also noted that the APC is already a dead party with Ganduje as head.

“Tinubu would regret his intimate association with a villainous figure like Ganduje. In 2015, Sen. Kwankwaso appointed him MD Chad Basin’s deputy and turned over control to him. However, because of his betrayal, no governor now trusts their deputy governors to succeed them as governor.

Except for the election Kwankwaso brought for him as governor in 2015 on a platter of gold, according to the NNPP, Ganduje has never won an election in his whole life.

“Every Nigerian is aware of the circumstances surrounding the 2019 race he claimed to have won. He continued, “It was yet another election I lost horribly.”

As the head of the APC election committee, Ganduje traveled to Edo State two years ago to campaign for the APC gubernatorial candidate. His dollar stuffing video was on full display there, Shendam continued, proving that Ganduje had nowhere to hide.

“The APC was soundly defeated, and the same scenario was played out in Osun. He expressed his expectation that the opposition parties in the next governorship elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa will use the dollar-stuffing video to assist them in easily winning.

“We had it on record that Ganduje had to escape from the humiliation and embarrassment he was subjected to in the two states on account of his moral deficiency,” the NNPP said.

The former governor of Kano State, Kwakwanso, said that he ran for office 17 times and was elected 14 times.

He stated, “With the exception of the 2019 presidential election, the vast majority supported all the candidates he supported in the last 30 years in addition to all the races he stood for and won.

In the 2014 APC Presidential primaries in Lagos, I finished second to President Muhammadu Buhari, one of the three times I lost.

Shemdam also expressed concern over what he claimed was an attempt by the Ganduje-led APC to frustrate the desires of the Kano state populace.

He forewarned that the state’s good citizens and judges with good conscience would oppose their effort to capture Kano by force, just as they had in 2019.

RCGG, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by its conveners, Mr Soala Jumbo and Mr Inyefi Wobo, said it was deeply concerned over the political crisis in the state.

The group called on Tinubu to call for a new peace accord anchored on the Constitution that would guarantee stability and allow the state governor to focus on governance without distractions.

It stated that the crisis plunged into turmoil following the defection of 27 members of the State House of Assembly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement said the clear provisions of the Nigerian Constitution stipulates that such defections result in the loss of the seats of the lawmakers as members of the House of Assembly.

RCGG stated that the defected lawmakers had continued to challenge the authority of the duly elected governor of the state.

The group said it recognises and respects the historical significance of Wike as the immediate past governor and now minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“We appreciated the President for the earlier Presidential accord which was done as an emergency measure but now need a constitutional peace accord that will bring peace and allow the governor to deliver good governance to the people,” the group said.

The group advised that the new peace accord should at least give way for the declaration of the seats of the defecting members as vacant and the holding of elections to fill those seats.

The coalition argued that the political interest of the FCT minister could be protected by other forms of guarantees or compromises that do not affect governance in the state.

The State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, announced the suspension at a press briefing in Gusau on Friday.

Jaji represents the Kaura-Namoda/Birnin-Magaji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the APC.

Idris said other allegations against Jaji include the engagement in dishonest practices and habitual absenteeism from the party’s meetings and other activities.

He said the sanction was sequel to the notice of confirmation of suspension of Aminu Jaji from the Birnin-Magaji ward APC executives over the alleged anti-party activities, among other irregularities.

Idris said, “The suspension notice was forwarded to the state APC headquarters by the APC executive committee of Birnin Magaji Local Government.

“The state executive committee of the APC held an emergency meeting at the State Party Secretariat, Gusau today, Friday 17th May 2024, where Jaji’s suspension matter was tabled to the state executive members.

“The state APC executive committee resolved and approved the suspension of Aminu Jaji from the party.

”This is based on the recommendations of the State disciplinary committee in line with his earlier suspension by the APC Birnin Magaji Ward Executive Committee and affirmed by APC Birnin Magaji LG Executive Committee.”

Reacting to his suspension, Aminu Jaji told NAN in a telephone interview that all the allegations against him were baseless and untrue.

Aminu Jaji said the state APC leadership has not followed the constitutional provisions of the party.

He said, “This is a clear indication that the party in the state has no focus and leadership.”

“In addition to the registration of voters, the commission will also make available the uncollected PVCs for collection during CVR.

“Also note that no PVC will be collected by proxy. Registered voters should come in person to collect their voter cards

“There will be no pre-registration option because of time constraints,” he said.

According to him, the commission has published the final list of candidates for the Edo governorship election following the conclusion of political party primaries.
