At the event, Mr. Shettima spoke on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

Mr. Shettima claimed during his speech at the event that Nigerians from the Southeast could not afford to participate in politics on their own.

In order to move the Southeast into the center of national politics, he emphasized the importance of electing Mr. Uzodimma again on November 11 in the governorship election.

The vice president congratulated Mr. Uzodimma on his enormous achievements in infrastructure development and the state’s rise in internally generated revenue (IGR) for adding value to Imo.

“He has raised the IGR to above N30 billion annually from a pitiful N16 billion per year.

“The people of Imo must unite behind Uzodimma and secure his reelection in order to ensure consolidation and continuity.

“You might not recognize him now, but you will eventually realize how significant he is to Ndigbo politics,” Mr. Shettima stated.

He told Mr. Uzodimma that the president would back him and asked the people of Imo to vote in large numbers on November 11 to re-elect the governor, so that he could carry forward his admirable programs.

Speaking at the gathering as well, Mr. Ganduje praised Mr. Uzodimma for his provision of sound government and infrastructure in the fields of security, agriculture, health, and education.

To maintain continuity, he pleaded with the Imo people to elect Mr. Uzodimma again.

It is significant because it is ingrained in society for a new government to drop the initiatives of the outgoing one.

“We require continuity in your particular circumstance. According to Mr. Ganduje, continuity will lead to consolidation, which will lead to sustainability, which will lead to progress, and progress will lead to prosperity.

At the demonstration were the governors of the states of Ogun, Benue, Cross River, Lagos, Ebonyi, Sokoto, Yobe, and Jigawa, in addition to a few members of the national assembly.

Along with a few ministers, Rochas Okorocha and Ikedi Ohakim, the previous governors of Imo, were also there.

Earlier, Gov. Bassey Otu of Cross River said Imo had benefitted a lot from the federal government for being an APC state.

“In order to sustain all these gains and even more, we don’t have any other option than to vote APC’s Uzodimma,’’ Mr Otu declared.

On his part, Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun described Mr Uzodimma as the “Hope of the Southeast’’.

According to him, Mr. Uzodimma has performed in all sectors – measurable and immeasurable in the areas of roads, health, job creation, and youth development.

In his address, Mr Uzodimma said he had done a lot to improve all sectors of the economy and politics of the state since his election in January 2020.

“I will not be contradicted, if I say life has become more meaningful for our people.

“We have rescued our state from the infrastructural decay we met on the ground; we have repaired and recognized the health and education sectors,’’ he stated.

Mr. Uzodimma commended the APC faithful and the people of the state for their commitment and support and assured them that he would not take their support for granted.

“I will improve on current performance and do better than I have done, and by the grace of God, we will have a new Imo where equity, justice, and transparency will be the order of the day.

“We are committed to good governance.

“We cannot do much without the support of the Federal Government because we have seen the need to be part and parcel of national polity.

“Imo is leading the zone to ensure that the Southeast goes to the national level and what is good for other states and zones will also come to the Southeast,’’ he added.

Mr Uzodimma appealed to members of the APC and those who defected from the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and other political parties to the APC to ensure victory for the APC at the poll.

Mr Shettima, who represented Mr. Tinubu, led other dignitaries to the palace of the chairman of the council of Imo traditional rulers, Eze Emmanuel Okeke, and inaugurated roads constructed by Mr Uzodimma.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election, Engr. National Legal Adviser of the APC, Abdulkareem Kana, made the allegation during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today where he blamed the NNPP leadership in Kano State of masterminding protests targeted at removing Ganduje from his position.

Kana maintained that the NNPP’s efforts would be unsuccessful in their goal to destabilize the APC, asserting, “These actions are aimed at scratching our surface, but they lack the capability to destabilise us.”

Kana defended Ganduje’s track record, stating, “I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Ganduje, and I’ve witnessed his dedication and inclusive leadership. He’s a seasoned administrator, and his contributions to our party are invaluable.”

In response, the National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, Ladipo Johnson, dismissed the allegations, characterizing the APC as a “confused party led by a delusional leader.”

Johnson stated that Kwankwaso has no involvement in Ganduje’s internal party issues, arguing that the APC chairman’s difficulties are of his own making and not due to any external interference.

Johnson remarked, “Ganduje’s troubles stem from his own actions, not any external interference. He’s currently embroiled in conflicts with his ward’s party executives and lacks the courage to face the charges against him in court.”
